Departures and Arrivals

An empty stage. Alexander is roaming through space in self-imposed loneliness. Acrobatics are done naked, physical deformities are revealed. Actions seem to have no purpose, objects seemingly useless, painting the tragic portrait of a human being along the way.

Alexander Vantournhout is one of Flemish circus’s big upcoming talents. He studied at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque and subsequently attended two years of P.A.R.T.S. His artistic work evolved from cyr wheel to pure performance. ‘Aneckxander’ was selected for CircusNext, the most prominent European platform for new circus talent.

“A real triumph. For Alexander himself, for Bauke Lievens, for Flemish circus, for circus overall.” (CircusMagazine, December 2014)
