BLENDING PERFORMANCE AND 16TH CENTURY CLASSICAL MUSIC
Pop songs - 'popular songs' in full - are timeless. ‘Flow my tears’ by 16th century composer John Dowland is one of those. Dowland wrote this classic under the reign of Elizabeth I, and you can clearly hear the times’ uncertainty in the melancholic music. Composer Annelies Van Parys edited this piece for the dance performance ‘Lachrimae or Seven Teares' and the Hathor Consort ensemble will perform the composition live.

Femke Gyselinck brings a choreographic version of John Dowland's masterpiece, showing six variations on one basic movement, until the performance becomes the sheet music, as it were.
