Departures and Arrivals

Rasp Your Soul
2017/11/02 › 2017/11/05

After a successful retrospective at HAU last spring, Kat Válastur shows her new work introducing the series “The Staggered Dances of Beauty.” How can dance grasp something that is constantly changing? For this solo the choreographer and dancer Kat Válastur collaborates with the performer Enrico Ticconi and the visual artist Leon Eixenberger. She builds an abstract environment in which a figure dwells and constantly transforms. In this space the body reacts to what it impacts from the digitally marked outside world. Responding to a wide variety of fluid demands and input from the outside, it must also be ready to change and adapt. In “Rasp Your Soul” voice and sound are essential components of this environment and function as a magical organ that expands performativity beyond space and body.
