Igor Koruga

Igor Koruga (1985) is a freelance artist working within a field of contemporary dance and choreography. He graduated in MA studies in Anthropology at University of Belgrade and MA studies in Solo/Dance/Authorship, University of Arts and HZT in Berlin. Since 2006 he is an active member of STATION – service for contemporary (Belgrade). He participated in various artistic and non-institutional educational platforms locally, regionally and internationally (TASK/Zagreb; TanzFabrik Berlin/APAP network; Summer Coaching programme Worksapce Brussels / Life Long Burning; FastForward/Belgrade/Skopje; Kultur Kontakt Austria; Resonance/Belgrade&Poznan etc). He collaborated with Jeremy Wade, Willy Prager, Eszter Salamon & Christine de Smedt, among others.
Igor is engaged in creating his own work through appliance of choreography as an extended practice, interpreting various socio-cultural phenomena conditioning current modes of art and knowledge production. His choreographic works include: Impasse (collaboration with Milica Pisic), Streamlined, Expose, Practice what you Pitch (in collaboration with Ana Dubljevic), Temporaries (collaboration project with Ana Dubljevic, Marko Milic, Jovana Rakic Kiselcic, Ljiljana Tasic, Dusan Brocic), Come Quickly My Happiness is at Stake, Already made theatre (collaboration with Sonja Pregrad and Nina Kurtela), Scale (collaboration with Josefine Larson Olin), Store at room temperature (collaboration with Aleksandar Georgiev) etc.

Igor was a recipient of several scholarships and awards: Nomad Dance Academy Programme (2009), DanceWEB Program / ImpulsTanz,(2009), Tanzstipendium - dance scholarship from Mayor of Berlin Senate Chancellery - Cultural Affairs (2013); In 2015 he was a recipient of a yearly award by National Organisation for Rare Diseases in Serbia (NORBS), for an outstanding contribution in improving the position of people with rare diseases in Serbia through his artistic work. Same year he was awarded with 1st prize and with critics award by Association of Ballet Artists of Serbia and international Festival of choreographic miniatures in Belgrade.
